For dedicated Human and Community Services professionals pursuing advanced social work education, this postgraduate program represents the perfect career progression. ACAP's Master of Social Work (Qualifying) provides an in-depth exploration of human cognition and behavior, equipping you with crucial competencies to excel as a Social Worker. During your studies, you'll examine the professional foundations of social work, covering its historical development, ethical frameworks, and major influences. Grounded in social justice and human rights principles, the program develops your ability to practice ethically across diverse settings with various client groups. The curriculum enhances capabilities in analytical reasoning, anti-oppressive approaches, community development, policy advocacy, intercultural competence, and research methodologies. Practical learning is emphasized through supervised field placements totaling 1000 hours, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge in professional settings. This AASW-accredited program meets all ASWEAS requirements for professional entry. All students must complete a national police check during their first trimester. NPI has additionally accredited this program under its autonomous accreditation authority. Duration: 2 Years Full-Time
International students must meet the following criteria:
A Bachelor degree in a cognate area (for example social sciences, psychology, community and welfare work, nursing, allied health, counselling), or
A Bachelor degree with evidence of at least one year of full-time study in social sciences, or equivalent
AND
A written 500-word statement outlining your interest in studying social work.
It is a condition of progression in this course that students complete a national police record check prior to enrolment into the second unit of study.
Minimum English Language Requirements
To be accepted into the program, international students who have not completed a Year 12 or equivalent secondary school level qualification or higher qualification in the English language consistent with the requirements for admission to an AQF Level 9 degree course in Australia must have a minimum score of 7.0 or higher in each component (listening, reading, writing and speaking) of the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test, or equivalent, upon application.
